HTHCV Festival Del Sol (Refugee Documentary Project)
The purpose of the refugee documentary was to humanize the refugees that the media portrays as "bad" we also worked on figuring out many reasons why they leave their countries for example: Poverty, education, hunger, and violence, but there are still many reasons why they leave their countries. We learned that there are people who aren't being treated fairly and there are people being killed for no reason at all. Our class created a documentary in order to show all the hard ships hat these people known as "refugees" go through, and in order to learn how to do it properly we partnered with a non-profit organization called Outside the Lens, they showed us how to use the equipment such as cameras, microphones, and computer editing software.
The message we tried to get across to our viewers was to help out these people in any way they can whether it be through charity, helping the refugees find a home/place to stay. We interviewed 7 refugees all were female because the males were to "shy" to be interviewed. The process we went through in order to make the documentary we had to figure out the editing software, the camera work, the soundbites, and interviewing the refugees.
I was a storyteller for this project. I had the pleasure of creating stories for the refugees and I was able to make a product that I'm proud of and I'm happy to say that it came out very nicely. I'm proud of my team fir doing a good job in this documentary and I was very pleased with the work we were able to accomplish. The purpose of me and my group making a puzzle was to make sure the audience had an interactive experience while learning about the lives of the refugees.

Project Reflection
What I appreciated about this project is getting to know the people in my group and being able to see and talk to the peacemakers. I also appreciate the people in this project and how willing they were to help. What stood out to me about his project are the people and how hard the wanted to work to get this project done. I've learned a lot through out this project like the refugees and the experiences they have to go through in order to get to America. I also learned that these refugees are fleeing there home because of hunger, poverty, education, and violence but there are still many reasons why they leave. I think that knowing about the refugees globally and locally is important because they need a lot of help.

This is a slide show of the finished process of the documentary and it was, in my opinion, very exciting. What I did during this exhibition was that I was able to be a part of the student panel and I was able to talk a little bit about the documentary. I was also able to answer the questions of the audience if they had any questions about what we did and what we had to for the documentary to work.
